Community Needs

During the Advent and Christmas Season is a good time to give of the gifts God has given to you. Below are several opportunities in our community.

Advent Tree at St. Patrick Chapel

Due to COVID 19 restrictions from the Community Santa Campaign we are unable to adopt families this year. In an effort to continue to help their cause we will be collecting unwrapped toys underneath the Advent Tree. The tree will be out starting Saturday, November 21st. The gifts need to be under the tree by Sunday, December 6th. Presents can also be dropped off at Church during Wednesday night confession from 5:00 to 6:20. Some of the most requested gift items are infant learning toys, dolls, kitchen toys, princess theme, crafts, puzzles, blocks, trucks, cars, tractors, sports balls, and skateboards. If you have any questions please call Tracy Lorenz at 660-281-3622.

Angel Tree at Sacred Heart Chapel

This year, due to the pandemic, we are moving our Angel Tree to a virtual event. To claim a tag, please visit our Facebook page, comment on the gift you’d like to purchase. If a gift has already be spoken for, we ask that you choose a different tag. We have 88 and the possibility of adding additional ones later. Wrapped gifts need to be returned to the tree at Sacred Heart Chapel no later than December 13th. Please be sure to include the information from the tag along with your name. If you have any questions, you may call Dianne at the office, 660-827-2311. Read more about the Angel Tree Program.

Giving Tree at St. John's Chapel

We have adopted 7 folks from the Public Administrators office. These individuals are under the public administrators care as they are unable to care for themselves and no family available to help. Names are available at St. John's Chapel.

Open Door & Embassy Houses

Taking Care of Our Community

Throughout the month of November and December we are encouraging parishioners to bring items in for both the Open Door Food Pantry and for the Embassy Houses.

With many folks being unable to work due to quarantine and/or COVID, on top of our growing issues with food insecurities in this community, Open Door is in more need than ever of donations.

The Embassy Houses help both men and women who are working on getting back into a normal life after issues they have struggled with.

St. Vincent de Paul Parish (and Sacred Heart School) is partnering with these agencies to fulfill their needs. We ask you to please bring the following items for donation:

  • Non-perishable Foods
  • Paper Towels
  • Paper Napkins
  • Paper Plates
  • Toilet Paper
  • Tissues
