Meet the Pilgrims

Jesus is on the MOVE!! Meet the perpetual pilgrims walking with Him on the Serra Route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. We invite you to prayer for these pilgrims on their journey to us, and join us to meet them in person on Monday, July 1st and Tuesday, July 2nd.

Chima Adiole lives in Texas where she is currently a graduate student in computer science at Rice University. She chose to apply to be a Perpetual Pilgrim after encountering Jesus during her own personal mini-pilgrimages around the city of Houston—visiting different parishes within the city and crossing paths with people from all walks of life. During her free time, Chima enjoys reading books and sings in the adult choir of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Jaella Mac Au is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia studying Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus in Child Life. Jaella desires to live a life that ensures people feel seen and called by name; her studies support this by educating her deeply about individuals and families across the lifespan. Jaella lives this mission as an intern with Extra Special People, Inc. and as a Prayer Team Lead at the UGA Catholic Center. Along with this, Jaella is a Lay Member of Regnum Christi and a Core Team member of Mercy Missions Atlanta. In her free time, she enjoys running and reading books, but never at the same time! Jaella is excited beyond words to be a Perpetual Pilgrim walking the Serra Route, and prays that whomever is called to join the pilgrimage be assured of the Father’s gentle love and providence through Jesus in the Eucharist for not only this summer, but the rest of their lives.

Dereck Delgado is a sixth-year seminarian with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, studying at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA. His vocational journey started in high school during a profound moment of Eucharistic Adoration. He encountered the gift of love that was so transformative that it moved him to consider making his own self-gift to others as a priest. He is eager to be a witness of the healing power of the Eucharist by bringing the Blessed Sacrament throughout the country as a Perpetual Pilgrim. Whether it involves reaching one soul or a thousand, he believes that this pilgrimage is a pivotal moment for both the Church and the country. He wants to serve as an instrument for God’s desire to deepen his relationship with his people. Outside of his studies, Dereck enjoys watching baseball, working on fitness, and practicing photography. A fun fact about him is that he was born and raised in Guam (in other words, the middle of the ocean). Dereck is the youngest of four children and an uncle to four very active boys.
