It’s that time of year again – Praise the Lord!

By Bob & Jean Simon, RCIA Coordinators

What could be more exciting than assisting an individual on the greatest journey of their life – one that takes them into eternity!  RCIA, The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, officially begins Thursday, September 22, 2022. Do you know of someone that is curious about the Catholic faith or do you have an interest in understanding the faith better?  Our sessions will be held on Thursdays in the Parish Center next to the Sacred Heart Chapel.  We will begin each session at 6:30 pm.

The RCIA process is divided into four distinct categories: The Inquiry/pre-catechumenate phase takes place for the first 6 to 7 sessions.  In the middle of November, we start the Catechumenate phase which is a more formal study of the Catholic faith.   Lent begins the Purification and Enlightenment phase where the participants grow deeper in their knowledge and faith as they prepare for the Easter Vigil. The fourth phase is called Mystagogy which is the continuous study of the Catholic faith.

Each candidate/catechumen will need a sponsor to help walk with them through their learning process.  If you have ever been a sponsor or think you would ever want to be one, we are inviting you to a training session to help prepare you for this special opportunity.  There are two different sessions to choose from.  You may attend the first session on Wednesday, August 17th or the second session on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022. Both sessions begin at 6:30 pm at the Parish Center by Sacred Heart Chapel.

Pray about how you can make a difference and put the above dates on your calendar and then invite a friend, acquaintance or a family member to learn more about the Catholic faith. God may be calling you to walk with someone as they journey to seek and the find the Truth!
