Sacred Heart Names New Principal for 2022-23 School Year
Sacred Heart School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Nancy Manning to serve as Principal for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Manning comes to Sacred Heart after a long and successful tenure in the Missouri Public School System.
Mrs. Manning attended, and graduated from, St. George Catholic grade school in Herman, MO. After graduating from Herman High School, she went on to the University of Central Missouri and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education degree with teaching certification in Vocational Home Economics 7 – 12. Shortly thereafter she completed a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
In announcing the hiring, Sacred Heart School President and longtime SHS administrator, Dr. Mark Register said, “Mrs. Manning brings a wealth of knowledge and successful experience to this position. The interview committee was enthusiastic about her desire to use her background in Curriculum and Instruction to take on the challenging role of becoming the Instructional Leader in our school community.”
Mrs. Manning’s career began at the Sedalia Middle School where she taught for two years. From there she was offered the opportunity to begin a Family and Consumer Science program in the Sweet Springs school district. Family life then took her to Warrensburg where she served the last 25 years of her public-school career in the Warrensburg district.
Manning has been very active in FCCLA over the years establishing strong clubs and programs in her school and serving on the state level as well.
Upon retirement from the public system, she actively researched how she might be able to contribute to Catholic Education, specifically at Sacred Heart School. Her son Jackson has attended here since the 3rd grade and will be a junior in the fall.
This year she displayed her willingness to be a true servant leader and took on the role of front office secretary and receptionist. What better way to learn how a school operates from the inside out! Mrs. Manning also offered a very popular FACS elective for juniors and seniors. From this fledgling program students participated in FCCLA competition and 3 SHS students advanced to compete at the state level in the program’s first year.
When asked about her role for the coming year Mrs. Manning said, “I view my role as principal as one who provides a positive school climate, communicates well and models Christian attitudes inside and outside of the school day. I am excited to take on the role of instructional leadership in a school that has a long history of preparing children well for college and for life in general.”
For 22-23 she will join a leadership that includes Register as President and Mr. Jose Maria Gonzalez as Assistant Principal. St. Vincent de Paul co-pastor Fr. Joe Corel directed the principal search and had this to say about Mrs. Manning’s appointment, “For several weeks during our Sunday masses, we prayed for the person the Lord is calling to be our new principal. He revealed to us that this person is Mrs. Manning. She is a parent of a current Sacred Heart student and can see things from a parent perspective. For the past year she has taught a class and plans to continue teaching and so can see things from a teacher perspective. She leads the brand new FCCLA chapter in our school and so can see things from a moderator of extracurricular activities.”
He went on to say, “She proves to be a servant leader who was called to see our school from the perspective of the front office secretary, receptionist and registrar. The Lord has richly provided her with the experiences and vision to be our new principal in the three-person administrative team. We are blessed! I am grateful and excited that Mrs. Manning has accepted the call from the Lord to be our principal. Let us continue to pray for her as she makes this important transition.
Mrs. Manning is a long-time active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Warrensburg. Sacred Heart School is extremely grateful to her, and her family, for making this extraordinary commitment of time and talent. It promises to be a great year at SHS in 2022-2023. Go Gremlins!
