A Note from Christopher Hoffmann
It has been a year moving towards “normal”, but we are not there yet. I am in my second year of Theology at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. I was elected to serve on the Student Senate for the calendar year ending this December. I finished out the spring semester with online classes before moving to St. Peter in Marshall for my summer assignment. I was at Marshall in 2018 for my first summer assignment due to the Hispanic population which allowed me to work on my Spanish. In July I assisted both priests at the parish move out and the two incoming priests move in. I was also substitute missionary for Totus Tuus, a youth catechetical teaching program, for three weeks over the summer. It is always great to get out and see the different parts of the diocese.
This academic year, I am the House Prefect for Theology and am continuing several house jobs from last year. I started as the Grand Knight for the PCJ Knights of Columbus council in the fall. I made the PCJ golf team and “B” team, which finished 5 out of 20 teams. Dec. 8 I was instituted as an Acolyte – the last ministry before Deacon ordination, which will be the summer after Theology 3, Gold willing. I was able to make a few disc golf tournaments this year, playing in the recreational division. I try to get off campus for a round a couple of times a month with several other seminarians. I hope to get out and visit some places and people I haven’t been able to visit for almost two years now, if the weather allows. It was a packed year, especially academically this semester with two scripture courses, but it is great to be on break and celebrate the Advent and Christmas seasons with family and friends.
Peace and blessings to your family this Christmas Season! Know that you are in my prayers and please continue to pray for me.
